The VW 1.9 TDI to R150 Adapter Kit will mate your VW 1.9 TDI donor motor to your stock Toyota 5-Speed manual R150 transmission. All hardware is included, as well as the adapter plate, dust shield, custom pilot bearing (commercially available) and starter spacer. You also have the option to add a brand new, stock-sized, 9-1/4" flywheel, or upgrade to the 3.4L's 10" flywheel. The flywheel is machined to the TDI crankshaft pattern and is ready to be bolted on. It is highly recommended that you mark the posiiton of your VW 1.9 TDI flexplate in relation to your crankshaft before removing. The new flywheel comes neutral balanced, and you may not have any issues running it as-is, but your safest bet is to have it "match balanced" to the VW 1.9 TDI flexplate. The 9-1/4" flywheel uses your stock 1988-1995 clutch. The 10" flywheel uses a clutch from a 1996-2004 Toyota Pickup/4Runner V6 4x4. The throwout bearing must match whichever bellhousing you're using; if you're using a 1990 bellhousing, you'll need a throwout bearing for a 1988-1995 V6 Toyota Pickup/4Runner 4x4. You can opt for (12) new ARP flywheel bolts with your flywheel. If not ordering a flywheel, but you still want flywheel bolts, please order from the flywheel bolts product page. You can use a starter from a 3VZE or a 5VZE. The 3.4L starter has a higher 1.8KW output option referred to as a "Cold Weather Package" option.
This kit was designed for the AHU and ALH Volkswagen TDI's. Many other VW diesels share the same bellhousing pattern, but it is not guaranteed the components on those engines will fit the same (i.e., starter, manifolds, oil filter, etc.). The Toyota starter sits in the location of the factory turbo. A pair of flanges are available to allow relocation of the AHU's K03 turbo. The ALH has a one-piece exhaust manifold/turbo. At this time, thie VNT-15 turbo will not work. A relocation kit is in the works for this turbo. At only 90 crank hp, stock, the TDI is not enough to motivate a heavier Toyota. It is assumed you will be increasing the power. Running an aftermarket exhaust manifold and turbo is recommended so you can maximize the benefits of fueling upgrades. The K03 is quite restrictive, even in stock form.
This kit will work with an R150 from a 3.4L 5VZ-FE, the outer perimeter of the bellhousing just won't match perfectly. You will have to supply some of the bellhousing hardware yourself. The 5VZ-FE R150 to VW 1.9 TDI adapter kit will be coming, soon!
